How We Approach Your Care

Your treatment is tailored to you.

There isn't one right approach for every person or every problem. We'll look at what's going on, what you're hoping to get back to, and what approaches make sense for you. Treatment may change as you progress, too.

No “No Pain, No Gain” Here!

I am not a “no pain, no gain” therapist!

So, no suffering in silence! I always encourage you to tell me what is going well and what is not. Your feedback helps us figure out what is working, what isn't, and how we can adapt the treatment to you.

Treatments approaches used at Pathways

Manual Therapy
Hands-on techniques to loosen things up, improve movement, decrease pain and tightness, and help your tissues and joints move more comfortably. This may include soft tissue mobilization, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, or scar mobilization. click here to learn more about manual therapy techniques

Dry Needling
Used to go after current or old trigger points — those “knots” in your muscles and fascia — to help things loosen up and work more effectively. click here to learn more about dry needling

Therapeutic Activity
Activities that mimic or simulate things you're having difficulty doing at home, work, or in your everyday life. We use these to retrain for the specific tasks you need or want to be able to do.

Therapeutic Exercise
Movement and strengthening to help you move better and get stronger — so you can tackle everyday tasks as well as the fun hobbies and activities you've been missing.

Neuro Re-education
Helping your brain and body reconnect, wake up or calm down an area, and relearn how best to move through the patterns of your day.

Modalities
Heat, cold, paraffin, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and other options may be used to help prepare your body for the work ahead. We'll also talk about options you can use at home — including things you may already have and things you may want to purchase as an investment in your health and wellness.

Splinting & Positioning
Education and recommendations for support during the day, improved comfort while sleeping, finding the right splint or support, or creating a custom splint for your specific needs.

Home Program
Options you can do on your own, at your speed and in your own time. The goal isn't just to give you exercises and send you home — it's to give you information and tools you can use now and the future, to empower you to take charge of your own health and path to your ideal wellness.
