Dry Needling Services
What is Dry needling?
Dry needling (DN) is a skilled technique performed by a specialty trained and certified healthcare practitioner (in this case Occupational Therapist/Certified Hand Therapist)
The focus and goal is to help with myofascial, trigger point pain, loosen up “knots” in the muscle, increase circulation and a positive inflammation response to encourage and tap into your body’s natural healing.
We use a sterile monofilament needle, which is inserted into the tissue to effect and promote positive change in levels of pain, movement, circulation and overall function.
At Pathways Hand Therapy, we focus on concerns initially with elbow to finger tip, but work up into shoulder/neck/upper back, as you may have what is called referred pain to your hand from trigger points farther up the line.
Dry needling can provide some immediate noticable change, so often followed up with heat to promote circulation and muscle relaxation, or manual therapy and stretching.
